Reviews
I usually don’t leave good reviews at the restaurants I visit, but I feel very delighted after my experience here. I had a meeting with my friends at Gourmandise last week and I absolutely loved the way we were treated. My friends only speak Spanish and luckily our server was from Argentina, so we all felt very comfortable during our meal. He was extremely kind and made sure all of our expectations were fulfilled. The food was great and the ambiance was very nice as well. Will definitely be coming back!.
A delightful breath of big city café, this cozy eatery has the best selection of pastries, cakes, and other desserts you can find. My new go-to for feel-good comforts like triple chocolate mousse, cheese danishes, cannolis, and fruit croissants. The food selection fits the scene, and offers some good variety, but lacks a bit in quality. I'm glad they offer entrées in addition to their impressive bakery repertoire, but if the best gourmet sandwiches in all the land are what you seek, there are other, more specialized locations. That being said, the presentation, atmosphere, service, and flavors were all top notch, and I will be dreaming about their pastries for quite some time. Overall a solid A+ for the bakery/desserts portion, and a B- on the food.
Stopped by with my daughter, mostly for a pastry. While there we decided to have grilled cheese and tomato soup. Delicious! My daughter said it was the best tomato soup ever. We also had the crispy brussel sprouts and they were exceptional as well. Loved the sauces.
This was my first time eating here, it's cute, clean and they have friendly staff. I ordered the balsamic blueberry grilled cheese and it was just okay. I won't order it again though. My first bite was like eating toast. Everything was in the center and even though you could see cheese, it wasn't much and you couldn't taste it. I was disappointed in the sandwich, but that's okay. I do want to come again and try an entree next time or try the brunch. I also shared the creme brulee. It was great. I want to take the kids here so they can try a treat.
We stood at the dessert counter for an awkwardly long time before anyone even acknowledged us, which was weird.
I tried the carrot cake and the passion fruit mousse.
The carrot cake was very dry and I was kind of confused why they would put what I think is rosemary on top. It did not compliment the flavor of the cake.
The passion fruit mousse was good, but the cake was pretty dry. It looked like they added a simple syrup to the bottom cake layer but not the middle.
Overall it was not as good as I remembered the downtown location to be.
I always love coming to Gourmandise, the atmosphere is great and the food is consistently delicious. I ordered the salmon sandwich, I was a bit hesitant at first but I’m glad I did. The flavor profile is a bit off course from their New American menu but it worked well. The cucumber, salmon, and the wasabi shined through, and the salmon filet was large and perfectly cooked. Always a pleasure to eat here.
Two for one bakery and restaurant serving delicious treats. Didn’t try any entrees but stopped by for dessert. Warm and inviting atmosphere, friendly staff and service. Pricier desserts but very indulgent. The chocolate and raspberry eclairs were rich and creamy, fruit tarts were fresh with good texture. Layered fruit mousse cakes were very flavorful and bread pudding was dense and sweet. Liked everything I tried here, worth swinging by to grab something small to try.
Food was good. I ordered the brisket grilled cheese. It was almost perfect. A little more sweet from the onions would have made the sandwich perfect, I don't think it was something that could have been helped.
The server was timely and anticipated needs before we voiced them, and was unobtrusive.
The atmosphere was good. I dropped the rating a little because the seating is not my preferred, tables no booths. A country style seating that's preferred by some people, so don't judge the atmosphere hard because of my rating
